Commencement 2019
The Class of 2019 graduated on Sunday, May 26, in a ceremony concluding the College's 207th year. Freeman Hrabowski, president of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, delivered the Commencement address, advising graduates to "keep asking the hard questions and keep thinking of things we've not thought about - about social justice and inequality and seeking the truth." Hamilton's 490 graduates now join an alumni body of more than 23,000, many of whom have made important contributions to business, the professions, government and the arts.

Recognition is Granted to Students Who Studied Abroad in Fall 2018
Muhlenberg encourages students in every major to study abroad while earning college credit towards their degree. In fact, 58 percent of Muhlenberg graduates from the Class of 2018 studied abroad. The College supports four discipline-specific study abroad opportunities as well as offering over 100 approved programs in Europe, Asia, Oceania, Latin America and Africa.

Students present research projects at annual SVSU symposium
Saginaw Valley State University's annual Undergraduate Research Project Student Symposium was Friday, April 26 in Gilbertson Hall. Among the research projects showcased at the symposium were studies on topics including the public's perception of genetic testing, the effect of teacher salary on student outcomes, mental health issues in Japan, and the demographics of opioid use in Saginaw County, among others.

Shakespeare-inspired concert to showcase 49 SVSU student-musicians
An ensemble featuring 49 performers from both SVSU's Concert Choir and Cardinal Singers will present the concert - titled "The Food of Love" - Monday, April 15, at 7:30 p.m. in the university's Rhea Miller Recital Hall.

SVSU student's entrepreneurial spirit shines in statewide competition
The childhood lemonade stands were just a warmup for Maggie Walker, a Saginaw Valley State University student whose entrepreneurial ambitions led her to start a retailing business as a college junior and win a first-place statewide award for it recently. The SVSU accounting major from Laingsburg received the first-place nod in the entrepreneurship category of the Michigan Collegiate DECA competition hosted in Dearborn Feb. 1-3. She and five of her SVSU classmates at the contest qualified for Collegiate DECA's national competition scheduled for April in Orlando.

Writing Center Tutors
The Nesbitt-Johnston Writing Center was established in 1987 to help all Hamilton students strengthen their writing abilities. Writing Center tutors are trained to review such aspects of student work as clarifying ideas, developing a thesis, organizing stages of an argument, and strengthening specific language.

In first year of DECA competition, all 6 SVSU students qualify for nationals
Saginaw Valley State University students rose to the challenge and delivered inspiring performances at the Michigan DECA conference in Grand Rapids. All 6 SVSU students who competed qualified for the national contest in April, despite the fact that SVSU had never before sent students to the competition. DECA is an international association of high school and college students interested in marketing, management and entrepreneurship in business, finance, hospitality, and marketing sales and service.
